Overview

Abu Dabab is a wide sandy bay south of Marsa Alam whose floor is covered in seagrass meadows. Those meadows are why the place is famous: green sea turtles come here to feed, and the resident dugong occasionally appears as well.

Snorkelling here happens straight from the beach, and the water is shallow and calm across most of the bay. No experience is needed, but the rules matter: we never touch the turtles, never swim directly above them and never block their way up to breathe. We respect nature and animals — that is precisely why these animals still stay in the bay.

It is a long day, because Abu Dabab is about three hours by road from Hurghada each way, so we start early and return in the evening. Lunch, snorkelling equipment and an in-water guide are included.

Itinerary
