Overview

Sharm El Naga is a natural bay about 50 kilometres south of Hurghada, and we reach it by road rather than by boat. That is exactly the point: the reef begins only ten to twenty metres from the sand, so you walk in from the beach and no boat is involved.

The reef here is in excellent condition — a steep coral wall dropping into the blue, plenty of fish, and often turtles and large trumpetfish. Visibility is usually better than at the sites near Hurghada harbour because the bay is quieter and far less busy.

The day is flexible: you spend it moving between snorkelling and resting on sunbeds under the parasols, and lunch is served at the restaurant overlooking the bay. Perfect if you would rather not spend a day on a boat.
