Overview

If you only do one desert trip in Hurghada, make it this one. It starts in the afternoon with pickup from your hotel in an air-conditioned car, then a transfer out to the desert base where the quads are waiting. After a short briefing and a practice lap you set off in a supervised convoy across the sand, with a photo stop on a high ridge.

From there you switch to a jeep for a faster run between the hills, then on to the Bedouin village: mint tea, bread baked in front of you, and a short camel ride. As the sun goes down dinner is served — chicken, rice, salads and grilled vegetables — followed by a tanoura show and Bedouin music.

The last part of the programme is set aside for stargazing far from any light, and for most guests that is the real surprise of the day. The whole thing takes around five hours from pickup to drop-off.
