Overview

The overland option for seeing Cairo: an air-conditioned tourist coach from Hurghada, roughly six hours each way across the desert road. It is undeniably a long day, but it is the most affordable version and requires no flight booking.

The programme covers the Giza plateau: the Great Pyramid of Khufu and the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, then the panorama point where all three line up for photographs, then the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. After lunch we visit the Egyptian Museum for the Tutankhamun collection and the treasures of the pharaohs.

Going inside a pyramid is optional and paid on site. Your guide is an Egyptologist and explains in German or English. A private version for your group alone with a flexible programme is available, as is a version by plane for anyone who prefers a shorter day.
