Overview

A version of the Luxor day that gives the West Bank all the time it deserves, built around the temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari: three terraces cut into the foot of a sheer cliff, and architecturally one of the most striking pharaonic buildings of all — a design that looks modern despite being 3,500 years old.

Hatshepsut was one of the very few women to rule Egypt as pharaoh, and the temple reliefs tell the story of her trading expedition to the Land of Punt. Afterwards we visit the Valley of the Kings and the Colossi of Memnon, and have lunch at a restaurant on the bank of the Nile.

If time allows we add a short visit to Karnak Temple on the East Bank before heading back. Your guide explains everything in German or English throughout the day.
