Overview

Luxor is the largest open-air museum in the world and holds roughly a third of the planet's ancient monuments. The trip starts before dawn because Luxor is about four hours from Hurghada by road, but the day is worth every minute.

The programme begins on the West Bank: the Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of Ramesses, Tutankhamun and other pharaohs are cut into the mountain and still carry their original colours, then the Colossi of Memnon. After lunch on the bank of the Nile we cross to the East Bank for Karnak Temple and its vast hypostyle hall — the largest religious complex ever built in the ancient world.

Your guide stays with you all day and explains everything in German or English. The vehicle is air-conditioned and the stops are spaced so the day never becomes more exhausting than it needs to be. A private version for your group alone, with a flexible programme, is available.
